I create bold, cubist-inspired paintings that weave color, geometry, and abstraction into portraits and scenes. My work is driven by the experiences and people who have left a lasting impression on me. Each piece is an exploration of memory and connection, capturing not only what is seen but also what is felt.

About

I’m a self-taught painter working in acrylic and oil pastel, drawn to bold lines, strong color, and large-format canvases. My work is influenced by Picasso, George Condo, Miró, Modigliani, and Andrés Valencia, and lives somewhere between artificial realism and cartoon cubism. The paintings often center on faces, sometimes inspired by real people, sometimes imagined, and sometimes an accumulation of personalities tied to a specific place, moment, or experience.

I started painting in 2025 as a way to manage stress and quickly found it became a way to capture memories and work through emotion. I usually paint fast, sketching first to explore an idea before committing to the canvas. I’m often frustrated with a piece midway through and close to abandoning it, only to realize it has found its form once it’s finished.

At first glance, the work can feel simple or playful, but I’m interested in the tension between childlike shapes and a more sophisticated, layered sensibility. The paintings aren’t meant to depict people as they actually are, but to reinterpret reality, leaving space for viewers to discover their own meanings over time.

I live and paint in Park City, Utah and have a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Utah.
